Theology is too difficult for me. Religious impersonality and beauty are what kept me in the church, not smiley wiley vicars or brash and simple forms of popular culture.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526736757651414061.post-27154820218632336042013-11-15T08:29:25.476+00:002013-11-15T08:29:25.476+00:00I feel that the 'cultural esotericism' lab...I feel that the 'cultural esotericism' label, that composers like Tavener, Part etc were saddled with, and the fact that they, through their music, have managed to push on and capture a large audience for their work, is yet another example of our yearning (in the West at least) for some spiritual nourishment, in a world of technological saturation, the worship not of gods but of 'celebrity, and the relentless accumulation of possessions - of 'stuff'. I normally steer well clear of anybody supported by Charles Windsor, but in Tavener's case I'm prepared to make an exception.mahlermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14469854614938507153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2526736757651414061.post-67573508222519342882013-11-14T10:49:47.926+00:002013-11-14T10:49:47.926+00:00Quite right George - a very individualistic Anglo-...Quite right George - a very individualistic Anglo-Catholic it seems. <br />Nice image Michael - 'What happened here?
