Not So Good News?

The attempt on the long-standing (and then some) steam car land speed record seems to be running into difficulties. However, we of the retroprogressive tendency are cheering on the team as it races back into the future. When Fred Marriott first broke that record in 1906, his Stanley Steamer was the fastest thing on earth, and remained so for at least 13 years. Who needs petrol?

    Should have stuck to Pendine Sands. Guaranteed not to overheat there.

    not the old jammed turbine blades excuse again, Charlie Parsons will rotate in his grave, would never of happened if Fred Dibnah had built it.

    I suppose the main problem facing a steam powered car is finding a really tiny person to shovel in the coal...

    I reckon going at 127mph in a steam powered car in 1907 was pretty bloody scary

    Worm, think they were called fireman so maybe a vertically challenged ignition operative.
