Born on This day...

Me! And Tom Waits, same day, same year - 61 today (cue for a song, Tom?). We're having a quiet one this year, Tom and me, though we're sorely tempted to look in on Edmundo Ros's 100th birthday bash. Now there's a guy who knows how to throw a party...

    Sixty one, a good age as my grandmother used to say, better than seventy one, not as good as forty one and as for twenty one, just a page in a book, happy birthday Nige.
    Today is also Pearl Harbour day, that's when Burt Lancaster was interrupted at the beach.

    Many happy returns from a 61 year old born on the day Germany invaded Poland to a fellow 61 year old born on the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. Sad that we both failed to live up to our mothers' expectations we would conquer the world.
