Me! And Tom Waits, same day, same year - 61 today (cue for a song, Tom?). We're having a quiet one this year, Tom and me, though we're sorely tempted to look in on
Edmundo Ros's 100th birthday bash. Now there's a guy who knows how to throw a party...
Happy birthday Nige. I'm sure I say it every year but you can't share a birthday with a finer man.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy birthday Tom. I'm sure I say it every year but you also can't share a birthday with a finer man.
Gosh has it come around already? Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns.
ReplyDeleteYes, Happy Birtday you both. If you slide over to the Dabbler and Lazy Sunday, you will catch a bit of Tom that you may not know...
ReplyDeleteSixty one, a good age as my grandmother used to say, better than seventy one, not as good as forty one and as for twenty one, just a page in a book, happy birthday Nige.
ReplyDeleteToday is also Pearl Harbour day, that's when Burt Lancaster was interrupted at the beach.
Many Happy Returns. I hope the BBC played the Wedding Samba today.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday nige
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns from a 61 year old born on the day Germany invaded Poland to a fellow 61 year old born on the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. Sad that we both failed to live up to our mothers' expectations we would conquer the world.
ReplyDelete(P.S. Loved the "quiet one this year" line.)
Happy birthday, Nige!
ReplyDeleteA belated but heartfelt celebration of another year, Nige. Reading your posts, including the most recent on Penelope Fitzgerald, always gives me a flicker of hope. Continue enjoying yourself, Nige, and giving us so much enjoyment. -- Patrick
ReplyDeleteAw... Thanks, everyone, for all your kind words and good wishes. Sadly I never made it to Edmundo's, but I'm sure a grand time was had by all.
ReplyDeleteGreat article, just what I needed.
