And another thing - people who pronounce lingerie 'lahnzheray' (or 'lonzheray'). What's that about? Is there a more annoying, stupid and unnecessary mispronunciation? Suggestions, please, to this address...
I used to work with someone who could never say the word "specific" - it always came out as "pacific". I know this isn't strictly a mispronounciation, just the wrong choice of word, but what does one say to a colleague who repeatedly and publicly makes mistakes like that?
I always pronounce it as it should be pronounced, to sound like lingering. Which is oddly what I often find myself doing in the large gusset section of Dorothy Perkins.
The Savoy (savwaa) the number of times I've listened to a certain type of English getting that one wrong. We Geordies Nige..lingiree, easier just to say knickers, and dick, you're on dodgy ground there, that comment would have the Rottweilers out at malty towers.
Shamelessly hit-seeking title there, sorry...
