Lol. A man in his situation clearly needs a top brief. Step forward the guy mentioned today in the Times: "A man ... posed as a barrister at a series of court hearings after buying his robes and wig on eBay ... During his “very aggressive” appearances on behalf of clients in criminal and civil courts, [he] pretended to be a qualified barrister who had set up his own law chambers and was friendly with leading judges."
After a fair trial Mr Maddoff can be checked over by one of those brain surgeons who bought their stethoscope in a car boot sale, sentenced by James Robertson Justice and sent to a prison run by Mr Bridger and Fulton Mackay. It's all about fraud these days.
Everybody seems to be at it and those of us foolish enough to stay honest are certain to pay the price. What with all the nepotism, backhanders, family connections, dodgy deals, and the voting on Strictly Come Dancing: we're clearly doomed.
Nige, who, like Mr Kenneth Horne, prefers to remain anonymous, was also a founder blogger of The Dabbler and a co-blogger on the Bryan Appleyard Thought Experiments blog. He is the sole blogger on this one, and his principal aim is to share various of life's pleasures. These tend to relate to books, art, poems, butterflies, birds, churches, music, walking, weather, drink, etc, with occasional references to the passing scene. His book, The Mother of Beauty: On the Golden Age of English Church Monuments, and Other Matters of Life and Death, is available on Amazon or direct from the author.

Yes indeed Mark - and it all bears out my long-held suspicion that nobody has a clue what they're doing any more - even the crooks...
ReplyDeleteLove it, Nige.

ReplyDeleteVery good, Nige, though I think it might be slightly catchier as:
ReplyDeleteThey gave their money to Bernie,
And Bernie Madoff with their money.
Gives it a good playground ring.
