Climate Change - Get This

Here is a representative sentence from the latest clarion call on climate change - the G8 statement, issued today at Hokkaido:
'We seek to share with all parties to the UNFCCC the vision of, and together with them to consider and adopt in the UNFCCC negotiations, the goal of achieving at least 50% reduction of global emissions by 2050, recognising that this global challenge can only be met by a global response, in particular, by the contributions from all major economies, consistent with the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities.'
Got that?

  1. It's writing by Lego. That horrible 'vision of'... You just know that somebody has come along and demanded that clarification be slotted in with no consideration as to the how the whole thing actually sounds.

Some days I find myself welcoming climate change and just wishing that it would come a little quicker.

  2. Figures from the POA scool of thinking (plucked out of the air). Hillary Benn, a man who just like his dad is so far out of his depth he's paddling over the Marianas Trench, last night said "think of all of the saved emissions by not having that wasted food rot on rubbish heaps". What about all of the emissions if its eaten? His dad, whilst minister for power, gave the OK for the Butterwell opencast coal site which ruined east central Northumberland for 25 years.

  3. Oh, that's clear, isn't it? More and more it seems that people rise to the top of representative governments in much the same way that scum rises to the top of broth.

  5. Perhaps the UNFCCC statement might become more intelligible if it's translated into parent-speak? "Go and cut down carbon emissions by 50%, and that means you too, America."
