At Last!

O frabjous day! At last, after an epic struggle with Amazon (preceded by an epic, but less frustrating, struggle with Word), my book seems to be available to buy on Amazon – I say 'seems to be' as I can't quite believe, even at this stage, that it's going to work... A snip at £10, ideal stocking filler, etc. (The cover is a pleasanter colour than that when you see it.)

  1. Great – it must be working then. Phew...

  2. Can't order it yet in America.

  3. Ordered.

You might think about trying to get it on Wordery.com, which is where I order most of my books from nowadays - trying, in my own small way, to diminish the terrifying power of Amazon's near monopoly.

  4. Darn. I feared this might happen, and it looks like most orders will be coming from the US. I went with Amazon purely because of their 'fulfilment' service (packing and shipping), but it seems it only works for Europe. To get US shipping too, I'd need to set up a new account with Amazon.com, which is (a) impossible, to judge by recent experience, and (b) unrealistically expensive. I'm thinking I might have to do my own 'fulfilment' with US orders. I'll try to set up a PayPal account to take payments – which would make that side of it easier – and will report back... Unless anyone's got any bright ideas of how else to get round this?

  5. I’m going to wait until Book Depository carries Nige’s book. I’ve never found a new book that Amazon sells that Book Depository doesn’t, plus they have “free delivery worldwide.” Unfortunately for Recusant’s attempt to diminish the power of Amazon, (as I just found out this year) Book Depository was acquired by Amazon some years ago.

  7. Hi,
I went to Amazon UK and ordered the book through my amazon account. There is postage (about 6-7 pounds) but I'm happy. Yes--I am American (on an island in the Pacific Northwest). I have Amazon Prime when I order in the USA but not with UK orders. Still pleased with ability to receive your book.

  10. Good Lord! Does my book come up at all? I get some pretty weird 'findings' on Amazon UK too, but the book is there further down...

  11. Unfortunately it doesn't. Just the above mentioned movie and a lot of what appear to be romance novels.

    2. It should do, Zoe – here's hoping. Let me know if it doesn't...

  13. Apologies for bringing sad tidings, but three times I ordered from Amazon, received a copy with damaged corners/edges, and returned it. Frustrating, as it was to be a gift for an artist friend. Is there a shop or somewhere I can certain of getting an undamaged copy? Can I buy direct from you, perchance? Steve
