Richard Todd

It was sad to hear yesterday that the actor, war hero and all-round good egg Richard Todd had died, albeit at a ripe old age. To say that Todd had a good war would be an understatement - read this and be humbled... This was a man - and, to judge by that piece, he was rather a good writer too.

  1. I was 13 at the end of WWII and remember lots of wonderful English movies, actors and actresses. So many favorites, and Richard Todd was one such. Reading reports on his death, I am surprised by the lack of mention for "The Hasty Heart". Still too sentimental, I suppose. But it had one of Ronald Reagan's better performances, and also Patricia Neal whom I loved from afar.

  2. Thanks Lincoln - I've never actually seen The Hasty Heart, but it sounds intriguing. I'm hoping there might be a little Richard Todd season on the TV - he deserves it.
