And...


I'm afraid the recent pictures of poor old John McCain with his tongue out put me in mind of this - Blake's The Ghost of a Flea...
St Luke's little summer is looking good out there. The remaining leaves on my sumac tree range from pale yellowish green through various shades of yellow, orange and pink to a full vibrant scarlet. Another beautiful autumn.

  6. Autumn is always beautiful. Wallace Stevens wrote 'spring not only redeems itself but comes close to redeeming everything' - substitute autumn for spring and i'd nod enthusiastically.

    i've noticed we tend to only get sunny days in this land in spring and autumn, the rest of the time it's grey and sullen.

  7. Absolutely with you there Elberry - and to me autumn always feels like the beginning of something, not the end. All the big turning points of my life (such as they've been) have occurred in September/October...
